My Lords! My Ladies! Pray Attend! This is to announce the beginning of a new Borealis tournament! As Such, I present you: THE IRON RING OF BOREALIS!!Within our great barony we have devised a way to allow new rapier fighters the chance to get used to the varying styles of tournaments, and the seriousness and tempo each fighter will have to face should they ever wish to participate in any baronial, principality, and kingdom level events. We believe that this will help to increase tournament turnouts and give our fighters more confidence in the errik (sp?). Once the Iron Ring has been earned, the winner will have the chance to run the next months tournament. This allows them the freedom to restrict weapon choices, and style of tournament. But while the winner holds the ring, they may not participate, there-by allowing a new holder in the next round. The Barony of Borealis welcomes all to help our new and seasoned rapiers hone their skills via testing their mettle. Though we regret to inform all that only Borealis residents may win the ring. This is to guarantee that the next months tournament go ahead with little hindrance, barring life getting in the way. Borealis residents have a more guaranteed attendance. Thank you for your time. I’ve been glad to share this new and hopefully future tradition with you.- Alessia

My armour brings all the boys to the yaaard, and I’m like, it’s better than yours.
Not really on both accounts, but this is all I could think when I put on my battles panties I mean, uterus protector. I am also a bit in love with my armour.

Had another practice Friday.  Just me and a friend who happened to be in town.  It was 90 minutes of fighting someone substantially bigger than me.  Oh, and he’s a dirty left handed fighter.  And he’s a former baronial rapier champion who’s now trying his hand at heavy fighting.

It was the first night I’ve ever tried a High Guard stance for any length of time and I see why people like it.  It worked well with my heater and I did not bad.  I know he was toning it down so I could actually learn instead of just being beaten constantly but I still did okay.  I went for the openings left for me and my shield wasn’t flying all over.  When he had his sword and tear drop things went pretty good.

Then he pulled out his greatsword.  I NEED practice fighting a greatsword.  About half my fights are against a greatsword and I tend to get my ass beat.  I worked a lot again on the defense I was shown at Silverwolf and it’s really paying off.  I’m actually starting to be able to close the gap and get some kills.  It was all going really well until one time I closed the gap and swung for his head just as he took a swing and his greatsword came in on an angle and managed to hit me under my demi-gauntlet right on the wrist bone.  It’s a damn good thing I was wearing my good leather vambraces or I’d probably have something broken.  It ended my night (which due to exhaustion was close to over anyways) and it’s still sore today but getting better.  He was so apologetic though which made me feel bad. I know he didn’t try and accidents happen in a full contact sport.
