ad-mortem-ad-undas:
So, according to the SCA, the area I live in is the Shire of Bitter End. ASJFKGKDKS. This is spectacular. My new hobby is the reenactment of the 15th century. Hnnnggg.

Soooo we should maybe have a GWW meetup
golden-bright-sun:
I mean if people are interested? We can arrange to meet somewhere and, like, watch the heavies or something, haha.
I’d like to meet other tumblr people because I have very few SCA friends, I’ll basically be there with my boyfriend with nothing else to do… XD
Anyway I’m camping with Shire of the Isles. Reblog or reply if you wanna meet up!

Unfortunately, I can’t find where I got this pattern from (if anyone can tell me, please let me know). This collar and cuffs are for a prize to be given out in a couple of weeks. Black silk floss on medium weight white linen.

Had another practice Friday. Just me and a friend who happened to be in town. It was 90 minutes of fighting someone substantially bigger than me. Oh, and he’s a dirty left handed fighter. And he’s a former baronial rapier champion who’s now trying his hand at heavy fighting.
It was the first night I’ve ever tried a High Guard stance for any length of time and I...

Can we just take a moment to appreciate that the Northern Army of the Eastern Kingdom has a Ballad?
Not a song, but a ballad.
“Ballad of the Northern Army aka Shiny Objects (song)
We fight and we fight and we drink and we drink and we drink The Northern Army Shiny objects make us happy The Northern Army THUG! THUG! THUG! ”
CAN WE TALK ABOUT THUG THUG THUG
I love my new family.

Attention Beautiful Pennsic People
bufan-fectuh-luinyk:
you all need to come back. Mundania is so boring. No longer am I able to wake up to the sound of drums, and walk amidst the juggles. I also can no longer walk through the beautiful throng of dancers at Vlads before I head to bed.
I feel the same way!

Just got home from the Avacal Sergeantry Trials. Despite being awake at 2:30 this morning for a 9 hour work day in order to be off in time to go it was a blast. I got to the site with just enough time to sign in and get armored up before inspection which I failed the first time. I haven’t been doing a visual inspection of my armor and my gorget was slipping apart...

Estrella War 2012
picasso-face:
It was really awesome. Jack and I went out Tuesday, and Em joined us on Thursday.
The three of us slept in a borrowed period tent Thursday through Sunday, when they left, and I slept in it last night as well.
I made a lot of new friends, which was awesome. I tried some new things and learned a lot of new things.
I took a class on embroidery, I learned to juggle (sort of), and...

We're watching Terry Jones' history of weapontry
ickaimp:
And I’m reminded of a few Estrella Wars ago when I ran across a gentleman who had built a giant wood cart.
Not just a cart, but one that actually could be propelled and steered from the inside, with a canvas Elephant head on it. He was quite pleased with it, representing the Greek army, and having a War Elephant on their side had been awesome for defeating their enemies.
Until...
